FLNG 11kV SWBD Commissioning
The project involved the conversion of a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) into a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) plant. This upgrade included the installation of a new 11kV switchboard (SWBD) and four generators. The full scope of work encompassed the mechanical oversight of the SWBD installation and the connection of field cables. Additionally, it required the control of input/output (IO) with field equipment via both hardwiring and IEC61850 protocol, as well as the verification of protection relay software and logic in accordance with the functional description diagram.
Upon completion of these tasks, a secondary injection test was performed and witnessed by the classification society.
In the final stage of the project, the SWBD was energized, and all four generators were successfully synchronized and operated in parallel. Subsequent sea trials and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) were conducted without any issues, confirming the successful upgrade and operation of the FLNG plant.
